Going the Bhagyashree Way...

Chitrangda Singh is the latest kid on the movie block. The talented actor, an Army officer’s daughter, hailing from a small town of Meerut(near Delhi), made her debute in Sudhir Misra's Movie "Hazaaron Khwaishen Aisi". The Smita Patil look alike has had many seasoned directors gushing, both with her looks and talent. Her second film "Kal" is currently under post-production.

Married to the famous golfer Jyoti Randhawa, there are stories abound, about maritial discord, on her further acting in movies. It will be sad to see another talented actor being sacrified at the altar of domestic bonhomie. A decade and half earlier, Bhagyashree made a powerful debut with Salman Khan in "Maine Pyar Kiya". Afterwards her silly headstrong condition to enact only opposite her husband Himalaya, resulted in few flops at box office and her eventual fading away.

Jyoti should take a few tips from Tiger Pataudi, who let Sharmila Tagore, continue working after their marriage. This resulted in gems like Aradhana, Amar Prem, Mausam.

Hey amit;

I read about her in todays paper too...pretty sad that we keep taking about women emporwerment and cry horse abt how male dominted our society is...but still educated,rich and confident women too choose to not do anything about this and bend into the obligation.I understand that to some extent its a personal decision but really why should a women even be out to decide between family and career.She has a right to both.
Anyways;
A nice post.

Boss !!

I will need lot of effort to consider Bhagyashree as an actress of some potential. She was just sweet & sweeties are one movie wonders.

Dear Amit,
I completely agree with you. Acting is a profession like any other and every actress should be free to work irrespective of her marital status. I think Bhagyashree's example is the worst - not quitting completely (so that she could be remembered for her one seminal work) and not doing good work either. The other day I saw her selling some kitsch on some direct-selling TV program. Sad.

Bhagyashree was co-erced to work with hubby only by him I think. She had it in her to make it big.

Bhagyashree's leaving films when she had the world at her feet-is one of the biggest sacrifices done for love..sad that she had to it though

Chitragandha's back though in "Sorry Bhai"
